Alright, I haven't been posting this month. One little post in the month of July, it's just pathetic really and now here it is August already. In my defense, there truly isn't much to see in the garden right now. The lack of rain and the ridiculously high humidity has every poor little plant in a state of shock. This gardener has made an attempt to keep it watered and cleaned up, but I'm having to wait until 6:30 each evening and even then I'm sweating buckets 10 minutes into it. We've givin up on those moments I adore, sipping sweet tea in the porch rockers, grilling out on the deck, morning coffee in the garden, I hate to wish for winter, but Fall would be awesome! I know, I know, QuityerBelliachin!!
Yesterday we got rain..hooray!! You cannot believe how truly happy the garden is, I swear I heard a collective sigh of relief coming from that direction. This morning I wandered out to take a look see, hoping I could get a bit of much needed garden work done-Lord you'd of thought I was standing in a tropical rain forest it was so humid. I'm not kidding..look at this picture--
I just couldn't figure out why the heck I couldn't see anything on the screen, then I realized the lens was completely fogged up..uggh!
Aren't they just the cutest? This is the reason I usually let the garden look a bit messy, if had pruned out the not so pretty susans these little guys would've missed out on breakfast.
So, what does a gardener do when it's just too danged hot to garden?
Well one garden is flourishing, the vegie garden! I've been cooking and canning--peach jam, bread and butter pickles, homemade tomato sauce, fried okra, green beans galore, yummy squash casserole, if it's ready for harvest I find something to do with it! It's been a healthy eating bonanza around here! Of course, there has also been a lot of sharing the bounty with friends and neighbors, after all that's the southern way! In that spirit of sharing I'll be trying to set up a recipes page this week and will start out by posting some of our favorite "From the Garden" recipes. Look for it to be up sometime this month, until then stay out of the heat and Happy Gardening!!

You captured some of the best shots of finches eating that I've seen. Very nice!
Tina..Oh my I thought they were just awful really..lol. I wanted to get closer, but was just terrified they would fly off..I never can figure out just how they perch themselves on a thin little stem without it bending over..lol They are just adorable little birds and they sure love the garden. Thanks for the complement..appreciate it!
We've been experiencing this awful humidity and heat also, isn't it just draining ?
I smiled when I saw your foggy picture, because on more than one occasion I've grabbed my camera, to shoot a birdie and the lens has been fogged from the A/C...
Glad you got the shot in the end though, the Black-Eyed Susans are just so pretty and the little Goldfinch spectacular..
Fall is around the corner somewhere ..lol
