Adventures In My Garden Has A New Name

A word on why I've changed my blog name.  I don't want to confuse my followers, but an update was just so overdue.  A Blog is a bit like a house, in that it takes some time getting a feel for it before you decide what works for you and what doesn't.  Well, it's taken some time for my house, my garden and my blog to "speak" to me.  We built our home in 2006 and right from the beginning I knew I wanted to name our little piece of heaven, it's a practice that the English seem to have down pat and to me it imbues there homes with a sense of personality and a wonderful quaintness.   The problem was, the name just wasn't coming to me.  I know now it was because we needed time to grow on each other.  As weird as that sounds, there just isn't any other way of putting it.  Finally, it came to me..quickly and without any real thought..SassyFras Cottage!  And there it was, the name of our home, just like that!  Why, you ask?  SassyFras is simply a play on the word Sassafras.  The abundance of Sassafras trees and seedlings growing on this property was one the first things I noticed about it and it's also something that is brought to my attention again and again by folks who come to visit.  In other words, it is a recurring theme..it just took me awhile to see it!  I changed it to Sassy..fras because it turns out that just like myself, our house, the land and even my gardens seem be well...just a little Sassy!

The Cottage part was just a no-brainer as my home was built to feel like my idea of a country cottage and all of my gardens lean heavily toward the Cottage style.  (Cottage Gardening = Planned Chaos..you just wouldn't expect anything less from someone Sassy, would you? )

Well, it stood to reason that after naming our home changing my blog was next.  I thought of changing it to SassyFras Cottage Gardens, but after 2 years in blog land I've come to realize that I liked to write about more than just gardening.  Don't get me wrong..gardening is my obsession, my passion, but it's not ALL I am.  There are other facets of my life I'd like to write about, so I will be expanding my topics in the future.  I hope that all my lovely gardening friends will continue to visit,  I promise there will still be a large volume of gardening posts and beautiful pictures to see. 

So there it is..the long winded and complicated reason I've changed my Blog name.  Somewhere in this post my sweet hubby would have interjected with "Is this going to be a long story?"  lol Yes..yes it is!  So sorry, I should've have warned you, but it's done now.  Happy Gardening, Friends!
